Well, that was over. That sucked. A lot. His neck still hurt from the damn collar. So he dug into the supplies he'd bought and went to work. Having the collar so snug around the wounds was a pain to deal with in a few ways, but he'd have to deal.

He planned on visiting Philip after he was all done with this. He was probably still passed out from the alcohol during his match but he wanted to see him. Fortunately he didn't have a whole lot of cause to be worried about what Eiji was going to do to him. It was the rest of the things with the fight he was worried about.

Their first Carnival Corpse was over. Somehow, he'd actually managed to win. This had probably been the easy part. The harder part was still to come: watching most of the people he cared about get penalty games.

First things first, he had to take care of Philip. So when he'd gotten a bandage tucked in under his collar, he headed over to his partner's cell. He let himself in, as usual, as quietly as he could.

Shotaro had a few other hard things to get rid of. Belt, vest, tie, and he considered for a moment leaving his shirt on, but he decided to take it off. He'd put a tank top under it to keep the bandages off of his shirts. Some bits of what he'd put on the whip wound peeked around the neck and arm holes. He didn't really think anything of it as he wriggled in under the blankets next to Philip.

He watched curiously as Shotaro undressed, and prodded at them when Shotaro laid down. "What is this from...?"

Crap. he looked momentarily surprised, then guilty. "It's not really a big deal." That was no kind of answer, he knew. But Philip wasn't going to take this well. Fortunately the place he prodded wasn't actually the wounded part.

That was not an answer. Philip narrowed his eyes.

He thought for a minute about how to answer. He wasn't going to lie to him. "It's from our fight."

[decideformyself]

Philip's face fell. He pushed himself up and scrubbed at his hair in frustration.

Shit. "It's not even a scratch. And it actually ended up that I could use it. To protect both me and John."

[decideformyself]

"I don't remember anything from after they..." His hand went up to rest on the stump of his other arm. "I'm sorry, Shotaro."

[tanteiotaku]

"I told John to shove me toward you so I could try to knock you out. After you hit me I used the blood to shield the rest of my chest. And since I was rushing you I figured you'd attack me more than anything else. The only casualty was my shirt." He shrugged slightly.

So it could have been worse. But to think that he actually lashed out at Shotaro, of all people... Roman Torchwick was right. Philip really couldn't trust himself. He drew his knees up and curled forward.

"Philip..." he sighed. He let him stay curled up, but brought an arm over to tilt him over into a hug. He was extra careful around his stump arm. He really wasn't sure what to say.

He didn't move or say anything for a while. He was just glad that Shotaro was still willing to put up with him after all that.

Finally he pushed his hair out of his face and looked over at him. "I need to learn how to control it."

He nodded. "I'll help you. However I can." He tried to give him an encouraging smile.

Philip swallowed and nodded. He didn't know what he would do if Shotaro weren't here.
