Ten Forward PL - Amy - Backdated to immediately following Philip's departure

After Philip had gone, all of Shotaro's energy went with him. This wasn't like the last time, far from it. But his gut was still all twisted up. He couldn't even really summon up the energy to care that his tie was both hanging loose and poorly-tied. He lounged on the couch in the common part of his room with Amy. He had his hat covering his face, a Dixon Hill novel split open on his chest, ignored, and a cup of coffee on the table that had been ignored so long it had gone cold.

Also on the table was his typewriter, with a piece of paper loaded into it. He had tried to take his mind off things by working on another section of his case log here on the Enterprise, but he had only gotten as far as the star date before deciding reading was a better idea. And it was clear how well that was going.

If only he had remembered to take the sock off the door from last night.

So muses the master detective whose wardrobe is as loud as his gaping maw? Colour Amy unimpressed with the insult. She is, on the other hand, curious about the restrained response.

"Can it wait?" she shouts; "did you not notice I 'aven't been in my own bed all night because somebody misused their new power? Eh? This is for sexy-times only, not tryin' to get me out of the room so you can write your smut."

She tosses the sock at Shotaro's face, fully expecting the explosion to happen now.

Amy's whole body language changes.

"Something's wrong," she says.

He didn't explode at her in colourful swear words like a Christmas cracker. He didn't call her daft, or try to spin things to tell the story he wanted. And most concerning of all, he apologized.

Amy sits down beside him, anger snuffed for the moment.

"What's goin' on?" she asks, and even if it sounds like a demand coming out of her mouth there's concern in her eyes that'll give her away.
